Number of Ukrainians Residing Abroad as of Late 2025

The distribution of Ukrainians worldwide as of December 2025 shows a heavy concentration in several key hubs. Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic remain the three primary pillars, hosting nearly 60% of all displaced persons. The extension of temporary protection in the EU until March 2027 provides governments with the necessary time to develop transition mechanisms for long-term visas or residence permits.

For Ukraine itself, the ongoing outflow of the population—particularly young people (men aged 18–22)—presents critical challenges for future reconstruction. In 2026, humanitarian needs are expected to remain acute for 10.8 million people within the country. This will continue to drive outward migration pressure, especially during winter periods.
